The 2017 Husqvarna 701SM, better known as the 701 Supermoto, is a big single cylinder street supermoto built to feel light, aggressive, and playful on pavement. Husqvarna positioned it as a machine that blends race inspired supermoto character with real world usability, so it is just as at home ripping through canyon roads as it is being used for everyday street riding. The bike keeps the minimalist Husqvarna styling, 17 inch wheels, Bosch ABS, and a very strong power to weight feel that makes it one of the more exciting single cylinder bikes in its class.

For 2017, the 701SM came with a 692.7cc fuel injected single making a claimed 74 hp and 71.0 Nm of torque, along with ride by wire throttle, improved throttle response, reduced vibration, and an extra 1,000 rpm of usable power over the prior version. It has a 6 speed transmission, a reported weight of about 319.7 lb, and a 35 inch seat height, so it delivers serious performance but still has the tall, raw, supermoto feel that experienced riders usually want. Overall, the 2017 701SM is best described as a high energy, premium supermoto that offers big torque, sharp braking, and a very fun, hooligan style riding experience.
