WHAT IS A SPORTS BIKE?

When riding a sport bike, the goal is usually to get from point a to point B as FAST as possible! This is accomplished by  making the bikes as light as possible, minimizing the weight while also maximizing the power, giving the rider a low aggressive riding position, creating an aerodynamic profile, and using the best state of the art technologies and the best lean angles possible for cornering as low as possible.

2020 BMW S1000RR

Although we usually favor Japanese bikes, the 2020 BMW S1000RR is one of the finest European bikes anyone will find in the supersport category. Typically, these German bikes are built extremely well, they look beautiful, they ride amazingly. These supersport bikes are powered by a precision made 998cc inline-four engine with four titanium valves per cylinder, it also has wet-sump lubrication and BMW ShiftCam technology, and makes 205 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque.

2020 YAMAHA R1 (ABS)

For the longest time, the R1 has been our undisputed favorite supersport bike. The R1 is powered by a 998cc crossplane crank inline-four, that produces 198 BHP. It is compliant on the road, but show the R1 a track or a corner, and it is almost tugging at the leash in anticipation. Lean it in, and feel how the suspension and tires tell you what’s going on, the engine buzzing through the frame to let you know if you need more throttle, and the bike itself saying “come on, more lean in the next corner!”

Put simply, it’s intoxicating when let loose on its natural playground, the race track.

2020 KAWASAKI ZX10R (ABS)

The Ninja family has the Ninja ZX-10R and follows the superbike style that sees fairly complete coverage of the body and leaves a lot to the imagination. However, this bike is purpose-built and wind tunnel-tested, providing low-resistance penetration with low-turbulence reintegration of the cooling air with the slipstream. One of the more features is it’s ram-air port, set right in the nose between the dual recessed headlights, and it is not just another vanity detail. It gulps air from at the entry and channels it directly into the airbox for a low-tech boost to volumetric efficiency with a concurrent increase in power.

2019 HONDA CBR1000RR

Open-class four-cylinder liter bikes have long been the holy grail for the best sportbike riders. Powerful, precise machines that stand at the very top of motorcycling’s hierarchy. On the track, they command your full attention. On the street, they give you a ride like nothing else with a license plate. The Honda’s 2021 CBR1000RR and CBR1000RR ABS are two of the best you’ll ever ride. Spectacular, refined handling. Immediate, absolute power. And all in a package that offers Honda’s legendary quality, and a level of comfort and rideability no racebike can match. Machines like these are a rare breed, and so are their riders. But once you experience a CBR1000RR, it’s hard to be truly satisfied with anything less.

2020 GSXR 1000

The 2020 Suzuki GSX-R1000 is one of Suzuki’s most sporty bikes in its lineup. It was crafted to be one the King of the Sportbikes along with the GSX-R1000R. The bike is designed and built for a rider with some serious sport riding skills. The GSXR 1000 is built with an inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled 999.8cc engine that makes 199 hp and 87 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed manual transmission. It’s the same engine as is in the GSX-R1000R. The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is capable of leading the fast group at track days or winning races but useable and stable on the road. It’s not super fast steering but it’s still a nimble bike.
